This past weekend I used my iPad with Djay at a wedding. I usually use Djay on my MacBook on a regular basis however, it’s my secondary player. As you probably have figured out I always have a backup plan. My main systems are the Pioneer mep7000 or my Denon HD2500. Djay serves as a great complimentary player for all of my auto mixed playlists for introductions, dinner sets, etc.
The first huge mistake wasn’t Djay’s fault. During pre-intros I loaded my playlist on Djay and it was auto-playing perfectly. My buddy wanted to tilt my iPad up a bit for me and lifted it up and started to fiddle with it as it was playing. The cable only jiggled a bit during Aunt’s Marching and the program stopped playing the song. That was embarrassing but people didn’t seem to care too much during pre-intros. Word of advice….don’t lift up your iPad or twist it and turn it while Djay is playing.
The real problem. I usually use Djay for special songs like Garter, bouquet, etc. During garter activities I tried to load a song on the left deck and the track flipped out. It was no big deal as I switched over to the Pioneer mep7000 to play the song. Although after a few minutes it began to work again my Confidence in Djay was compromised and I shut it down.
Djay for iPad is very useful and fun! I hope the bug is figured out soon. I will let you know ASAP. I contacted support for Djay for the iPad and I am waiting to hear back for them.
